I Can't Get Access to the Ebook in Question. What's Going On?

If you are off campus-- first be sure you have remembered to login with your W ID Number and six digit Class-WEB PIN and the platform you are in is NOT in "Guest mode" (if you are in "guest mode" click on the link to get out of guest mode and if you're off campus, enter your W ID number and six digit Class-WEB PIN).  If the link to the ebook is coming from your Canvas course, you may still also need to login to the Ebook platform itself.

If you have done so and you did not connect to the Ebook and you are in the EBSCO platform-- the most likely reason is that for that title we only have a finite (certain number) of copies that can be accessed at one time.  For example, if there are six copies of the Ebook available, and all six copies are currently being accessed by other students, you will get a message saying you cannot connect at the current time.  If that happens, wait ten to thirty minutes and then try to access the ebook again.

If the ebook is in the Overdrive platform-- there is a likelihood that all copies are checked out (in Overdrive you have to check out an ebook-- usually for a two week period).  You may have to wait as you would for a print copy for the book to be returned before you can access it.

If you are in a situation where you cannot connect to an Ebook, please contact a Chabot Librarian.  We are available to help most Mondays to Thursdays 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Fridays 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.  You can contact us via chat, phone (510)723-7006 or see us at the reference desk (go to the entrance right across from the Performing Arts Center and then go to the desk to your left, right next to the stacks of books).
