Can I Extend My Room Reservation?
It depends. If you have reached your maximum for 2 hours a day or 6 hours a week as stated in our policy, then unfortunately no. Usage of study rooms is almost always to its full maximum capacity already even at the beginning of the semester. The Library does have study spaces on floors 1, 1L, 2 and 2L where groups still can meet in open, with easily movable white boards with dry erase markers if needed. If your study time is more on the quiet side, there is the quiet study room on the third floor as well as many tables and carrels you can study on that same floor.
If your reservation time was under two hours, you can extend your time, but you need to go back to our sign up to see if the room is available in green. If it is in red, then this particular room has already been reserved so you need to go to another room or if there is a potential no-show, you will need to wait at least 10 minutes until after the start time, then speak to someone at any of these service desks to replace the signed up time with yours: Circulation (1st floor), Reference (1st floor), Learning Connection (2nd floor) and Audio Visual (3rd floor).
If you stay in a room beyond your reservation time and it is 2 hours, there is a good chance we will ask you to vacate it, even if there is not demand to use the room at that time.
